Going to a hair studio not only costs you money, but also time.
Think about the last time you got your hair cut. You probably got into your car and drive to a salon or barber shop. When you got to the salon or barber, you probably had to wait for the stylist to finish with their last customer. If you walked in without an appointment, you might be waiting an hour or more.
Then, after your haircut, you’ll need to take the time to set up your next appointment and make your payment. Finally, you’ll need to take the time to drive back home.
Between the drive to and from the location, waiting for the chair to open, the haircut itself, and setting up payment and your next appointment, most people are spending a majority of their day just on their hair. This is valuable time that could be better spent elsewhere.
Many people are willing to spend this money simply because they do not think they can cut their own hair.
Cutting your own hair SAVES MONEY
Depending on your hair and your location, a haircut itself can cost you a lot of money. I know of people who spend $300 when they go to a salon. That’s a lot of money and should make you think about cutting your own hair
However, it’s not just the cost of the cut you will be paying for. You also have to pay for the gas or other transportation fees to get yourself to the location. Additionally, you’ll need to leave a tip.
Not to mention, while you are out and about, you are going to be more tempted to go to another place for either a meal or shopping. I mean, who doesn’t want to show off their new haircut they just paid valuable money for?
What made us decide to make the switch to DIY
My hair grows really fast and I love to keep it short and neat, so I used have to go get my haircut every two weeks. My haircuts alone was costing us hundreds of dollars a year – not including the kids and and my wife.
Not only did this become a large source of spending, it also led us to continue down a path of getting into large amounts of debt. Simply put, we were wasting a lot of time and money on our hair.
