What is Walmart Grocery Pickup?
Walmart Grocery Pickup is a semi-new and free service offered by Walmart. Through their website or app, you can shop from their selection of groceries online and have someone else do the shopping!
Simply add items to your cart, place your order and select a time to pick up.
When you are ready to pick up your order, open your app and check-in. Your GPS will let Walmart know when you arrive.
Then, when you arrive, park in one of the Orange Grocery Pickup spaces and enter your parking spot number into the app.
Lastly, wait for the employee to bring your items to your car!
How to save money on your Walmart Grocery Pickup order
1. Ibotta
Now that you know the steps to place a Walmart Grocery pickup, let’s talk about what you should do to save money before you place your order.
By far, the best way I’ve found to save money on your order is by using the Ibotta app. Ibotta works differently with online shopping compared to in-store shopping.
To save money with Ibotta, you will need to connect your Ibotta account to your Walmart Grocery Pickup account. To connect the two, open the Ibotta app, select the “Walmart Grocery” retailer, and connect your account with the link at the top.
Lastly, when you have successfully connected the two accounts, the text will say “Account is linked.” The accounts may link instantly but can take up to 24 hours to complete.
After you have your Ibotta account linked, just select the offers you would like to collect on your next order.
When you place your Walmart Grocery Pickup order, Ibotta will automatically track your purchase allowing you to redeem those coupons and save money!
2. Allow substitutions
Allowing Walmart to make substitutions to your order can also help you save money.
Let’s say you want to order some Great Value Pepper. If your shopper finds that Great Value Pepper is out of stock, they will substitute your Pepper with another brand.
If the different brand is more expensive, they will price match it to the original Great Value Pepper you ordered.
To allow substitutions, simply select the “allow substitutions” option before you checkout.
3. Walmart Credit Card
Do you recall that credit card you automatically turn down when the occasional hopeful cashier offers it to you?
Turns out, you can currently earn unlimited 5% cashback on your Grocery Pickup order and also any regular online orders. If you plan on placing a lot of Walmart Grocery Pickup orders, applying for the Walmart credit could save you some more money.
To conclude, you can save money on your order by linking your Ibotta account, allowing substitutions, and charging your order to your Walmart credit card.
